This dog won the award for world's ugliest dog. It also reminds me of the rat monkey in Dead Alive.

Sorry, first post in a community ANYWHERE!!

I have to admit I'd never heard of PJ before LOTR.

But I'm pretty impressed with the stuff he did before that. I've reviewed BAD TASTE for a local Region 4 DVD website and I'm about to do HEAVENLY CREATURES.

I have to say, the thing that struck me more than anything else about HC was the opening credits.... almost all the people who crewed on the picture are the same people who we saw on stage at the Academy Awards last year! Jamie Selkirk, Grant Major, Ngila Dickson, he really has stuck with his mates hasn't he?

It's good to see a community dedicated to PJ's early movies,
cause there's a crap load dedicated to LOTR.
So, what is everyone's favourite early Jackson movie?
Mine is Braindead(American version is called Dead-Alive).

Hey guys, kinda dead around here, huh?

:::tries to think of some PJ related pun:::

Well, anyway, hi. My name is Louise, I'm twenty years old, Californian, etc.

My friends and I have made a couple of short films - a dialogue-based homage to Kevin Smith, and a color/B&W noir murder thingy. I'm currently writing my own screenplay [well, two; I don't know which one I'll go with].

I work at an independent video store in town, and just watch and talk about films all day long, then come home and watch more films.

Peter Jackson is one of my favorite directors because of his approach - how he gets in there and does absolutely everything.

I grew up watching horror and sci-fi films like The Blob and Invasion Of The Body Snatchers and worse, so I have a special love for splatter and gore, and Dead Alive made me laugh til I had tears in my eyes.

And then, that PJ could go and do something as huge as Lord Of The Rings and make it so gorgeous, but still maintain the same approach of everybody doing everything and keeping it sort of an independent film, just the biggest, shiniest indie film ever made, and with such attention to detail...

[I can't wait to see what he and Fran do with King Kong - a family favorite of my childhood.]

It just kind of makes you look back and think, "True genius." Okay, I'm done. =)
